For about 9 months, over 2021-22, Place Beausejour residents ran a Meals on Wheels program. By becoming community participants of the Edmonton operation, residents received frozen meals twice monthly at quite a minimal cost. Our in-house volunteers picked up, sorted and delivered the meals in a timely fashion. Once supply chain and staffing issues severely impacted the Edmonton facilities, PB was no longer able to receive meal orders and the program was terminated. The very small pricing difference, between the bulk order total and what each individual paid, accumulated to a total of $275.35. By unanimous agreement among our volunteers that money was donated to the newly formed Beaumont Community Centre Thrift Centre and food bank Jan 6, 2023. Accepting the donation is Camille Berube and presenters are Irvin Locke (volunteer driver) and Barb Willis (order organizer).
